Yes You Can Run A Marathon…Science Says So.
With the LA Marathon within striking distance, you may be filled with doubt wondering why you’re even attempting such a feat. Let’s be real, running 26.2 miles is crazy. In fact, legend has it that the person that the marathon race is inspired by, Philippides, died following his own epic run. However, science proves that based on humans’ unique biology, we’re actually built to run long distances.
The video below describes how our upright stance, short arms, Achilles tendon, and more give us a leg up (pun intended) on the rest of nature when it comes to running 26.2. Who knew our bodies were such machines? With training and constant refueling of carbs and electrolytes, your body gets even stronger and can go even longer.
Next time you go doubting yourself about how you’re going to do in your next race, just remember, you were literally built for this 😉
